Sticker Application

How to apply a sticker / decal
Application is the sole responsibility of the buyer. Rotten Remains does not accept responsibility for items damaged due to misuse or incorrect application including but not limited to: Tearing, stretching, not adhering to surface and application surface damage. If this is your first time applying a sticker/decal, you should consider consulting an automotive / sign professional to either apply the product for you or explain/show you the proper way to apply the product.
About our printed stickers
Our full color stickers are printed with UV fade resistant inks on commercial grade, durable vinyl that has a gray, pressure sensitive adhesive on the backside of the sticker and a thick paper backing. The stickers are cut through the vinyl, but not the paper backing. The extra paper backing protects the edges of the sticker from damage. Each individual sticker can be peeled off from the front and applied to almost any flat or slightly curved, smooth surface. These durable stickers are protected from scratches, rain, chemicals and sunlight by a premium, crystal clear UV fade resistant laminate. The gray, pressure sensitive adhesive on the backside of these stickers make them typically for placement on the outside of a window or surface.
Our white printed stickers are printed with UV fade resistant, white ink on commercial grade, durable, transparent (clear) vinyl that has a clear, pressure sensitive adhesive on the backside of the sticker and a thick paper backing. These stickers, having a clear adhesive, can be used for inside or outside application. Keep in mind that if placing a clear sticker on the inside of a tinted window, the darker the tint, the less likely you'll be able to view the sticker from the outside (when applied to the inside of a window, they are best suited for standard or lightly tinted windows). Also note that due to the transparency of clear vinyl, the color or hue of white ink may change slightly depending on the color or clearness of the surface it's applied to.
About our transfer stickers
Sometimes known as vinyl cut stickers, vinyl lettering, vinyl decals or rub on decals, our transfer stickers make it easy to apply the most intricate designs to any surface. These stickers are extremely durable and ideal for indoor or outdoor use. Vinyl cut stickers are covered with a semi-transparent transfer tape that holds the pieces of the sticker design together so that it's easy to apply to almost any flat or slightly curved, smooth surface. The transfer tape is to be removed and discarded after application leaving only the vinyl sticker on the surface.
Application tips
When applying a printed sticker, there's always a chance that you'll have a few air bubbles trapped between the application surface and the sticker itself. Most of the time, these air bubbles will disappear after a week of so. If they do not, you can use a needle or pin to pop the center of the air bubble and squeeze the air out.
Apply the same method of using a pin or needle to pop the center of the air bubble and squeeze the air out to remove air bubbles from a transfer sticker.
Surface Compatibility
The application surface should be hard, flat or slightly curved and non-porous.
Surface Temperature / Weather Conditions
Adequate surface temperature and weather conditions are necessary before attempting to install a decal.
The recommended optimum temperature for applying vinyl graphics is 70°F. For best results do not apply a sticker in extreme hot or cold temperatures.
Application surface must be completely clean and free of any dust, oils, wax or other debris and completely dry before installation. We recommend washing the application surface with soap and water and then dry it with a lint free cloth. If you are using Windex or another ammonia-based cleaner to clean the surface, rinse the application surface thoroughly with water and dry the area completely with a lint free cloth before applying the decal; the ammonia in the cleaner may interfere with the adhesive not allowing it to set properly. Any surface contamination such as bad bodywork, rust, dust or other debris will show through and spoil your final result.
Do not apply in the rain.
Do not install decals in direct sunlight. Surface temperatures in direct sunlight are often too hot and change too rapidly.
Note: Try to refrain from pulling or stretching the sticker during the application process. Any sticker will stretch out of it's original shape if the outside temperature is too hot or if it has been subjected to excessive stretching or pulling.
Tips on caring for your new sticker / decal
After applying your decal, do not wash your vehicle for at least 1 week to allow the adhesive to set and ensure proper adhesion.
Always clean your decal with a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth.
Take care when waxing your vehicle. Wax build-up around the edges of your decal may cause the edges or your decal to lift from the surface.
Never hold a high pressure washer nozzle or heat gun close to or directly on your decal for longer than a few seconds.
If your decal is applied to glass and you need to use an ice scraper to remove ice, scrape and clear the glass around your decal. Do not scrape over the decal. It may cause the edges or your decal to lift.
How to easily remove a sticker / decal
Glass surfaces:
Use a single edge razor blade to remove the sticker/decal. It is best to do this when temperatures are between 70°F (21°C) and 80°F (26.5°C) degrees. Any adhesive residue can be removed using standard glass cleaner.
Painted surfaces:
Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the sticker/decal until it peels off easily. Remove any adhesive residue with standard glass cleaner.
